Baby Sam has graduated to toddlerhood, having celebrated his first birthday in August. He told me the other day that he was excited to dress up for Halloween this year. At least, that’s what I thought he said when he was babbling extensively as I was putting up the fall decorations. (I’m considering classes in Latin to see if that will help with translation).

I like to eat, don’t you? I mean we have to do it every day, right? The alternative is pretty grim. But how much thought do we give to what we eat?
Chickens chillin’ in your front yard, goats gathering at your family picnic or ducks dancing in your school parking lot … and you don’t have to worry about set up and clean up? This idea is pure brilliance.
If you’ve ever read any of my columns in the past five years, then you already know I am a huge fan of shopping locally and I’m a darn proud supporter of our local shops, eateries and businesses. Delaware is a great place to live and is fortunate to have a thriving downtown (which is up to all of us to support). With that in mind, I have to share about a great new store that just opened in downtown Delaware called Carousel Closet, a consignment shop for infant, children’s, juniors and maternity clothing.

I have been overdosing on Olympic coverage this week and staying up well past my bedtime. The Delaware County District Library’s new campaign, “I geek ____ (whatever),” keeps running through my head because I am so geeked up about the Olympics.
There is a magical place here in Delaware County that inspires children of all ages (young and old) and we are so fortunate to have this incredible resource: Stratford Ecological Center. It’s not just the center with its excellent educational programs and outreach to school children or their amazing and dedicated staff — it’s the call of the wild deep in our souls that beckons us to explore this gorgeous farm and woodlands.
