Onions are valuable to chew

Every time I reach down to that cool dark spot in my cupboard to pull out an onion I feel like I am searching for gold. These yellow spheres are valuable. They may only cost a few dollars a bag, but these nuggets of juicy goodness spell good health to me.

No gimmicks, just healthy choices

As the new year signaled the purchase of a new calendar, it also urges many of us to buy into the fact that this is the time of year to lose weight. The word d-i-e-t has become a code word for sacrifice, deprivation and spandex suits.

Cold sores are a thing of the past

While talking to one man about Oreos and recommending that he eat two cookies as a serving, he admitted that he eats two strips or half of a package of Oreos as a serving. Ouch!

Paying attention produces positive results

Two months ago, a lady thoughtlessly crashed into my car and created extensive damage to the left front fender and my body. My car has been repaired and my ribs are slowly healing.

The need is great for bell ringers

There is a call across the country for kettle bell ringers for Salvation Army. Perhaps because of an early Thanksgiving the Christmas season hasn’t begun for some people or maybe the economy has zapped the spirit out of others.

Planning between holidays to beat diabetes

’Twas the week after Thanksgiving and all through the house the decorations were hung and she couldn’t fit into her blouse. The stockings were hung and the lights turned on bright; she couldn’t believe all that she gobbled down last night.
