WASHINGTON — Americans are starting to see some relief from higher gas prices, a change that could revive the economy in the months ahead.

The Delaware City School Board is expected to vote in June on proposed stricter student athlete grade requirements. The new standard would require Hayes High School athletes who are sophomores, juniors and seniors to earn at least a 1.75 GPA, an increase from the current 1.5 GPA. The new standard is one of several revisions to policies that are being considered by the board.

With nearly 30 local children currently in the care of foster parents, the Delaware County commissioners on Monday recognized May as “Foster Care Month.” In a unanimous vote, commissioners approved a resolution recognizing that foster families have “opened their homes and expressed love and security to these children and have supported their birth families in meeting the goals necessary to reunify parents and children.”
