Home Economists meet Sept. 8

The Delaware County Home Economists organization, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2014, will begin meeting Sept. 8 with 29 paid members.

Membership continues to be open to Delaware County residents practicing (or retired) home economics, along with any family consumer sciences professional.

Programs this year include “How to Conduct a Genealogy Search”; tour of the Ohio Statehouse; a “felting” demonstration; tea and tour of the Kelton House; learning about the “Getting Ahead” program; touring and learning about a Delaware business “Button Up”; a speaker on nutritional updates and Delaware extension; and a personal tour of Foertmeyer’s Greenhouse.

The last meeting will be at Gallant Farm Preserve with a program titled “Feed Sack History and Uses during the Great Depression and Beyond,” followed by a pot luck.

Program committee members are Dee Allenspach, Rita Au, Nikki Conklin, Gail Curtis, Linda Edwards, Martha Hall, Barbara Loudenslager and Cheryl Newell.
