Preservation Parks of Delaware County has several activities planned.
• Preservation Parks will be at Powell Fest on Friday June 24, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, June 25, from noon to 9 p.m. On Saturday, two programs are scheduled. “Reptiles and Amphibians” will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with live turtles and salamanders that children can see up close, while also learning how these animals live in the world. The second program — from 4 to 6 p.m. — includes guests from the Ohio Wildlife Center who will bring various live animals. In between, hands-on activities will be available in the parks’ tent, during the whole festival.
• “Hive Days,” Wednesday, June 22, 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday, June 29, 1:30 p.m. Dave Noble, the apiarist from Stratford Ecological Center, will give visitors a look inside the bee hives at Deer Haven Park, and help them learn about the lives of these important pollinators. Meet at the Visitor Center, Deer Haven Park, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware.
• “Summer Bird Walk Series,” Saturday, June 25, 8 a.m. Don’t miss the first of three early-morning hikes led by park district staff this summer. This month participants will be on the lookout for birds that have set up house in the park for the summer. Loaner binoculars will be provided as needed, or bring your own. Free; ages 7 and older. • “Drop-In Discovery: Celebrate Pollinators,” Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26, noon to 5 p.m. Learn about insects, walk the trails, use field nets and bug jars, or use your own catch-and-release container. Noble will share his knowledge of pollinator species on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Free; all ages. Deer Haven Park.
• “From Patch to Pie,” Saturday, July 2, 2 p.m. Come to the farm and help pick strawberries and sample some summer treats. Free; all ages. Gallant Farm, 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road, Delaware.
