Powell police are investigating several burglaries that occurred early Friday morning at Liberty Square.

Police were first alerted by a burglary alarm at Azteca Mexican Grill around 4 a.m., where they found the door and window smashed.

Officers said they found no one at the scene, despite their 38-second response time. Upon further inspection, police discovered signs of burglary at five other surrounding businesses, located at 240 N. Liberty St.

In addition to Azteca Mexican Grill, the other businesses reported to have been burglarized include Powell Dry Cleaners, Lin’s Wok Chinese Food, Powell Hair Design, Anne’s Kitchen and Mojo TaGo.

Some of the businesses, like Anne’s Kitchen, were forced to close Friday and Saturday due to the extensive damage they suffered, police said. Some of the businesses suffered no losses, except for the damage caused by the illegal entry. Police and business owners are still working to inventory all the losses, police said.

Police say they have no suspects, but the incident may have been caught on a surveillance camera.
