Alpha Group opens Westerville site

The Alpha Group of Delaware Inc. has opened a location in Westerville and is accepting individuals with disabilities for its adult day service, community employment and work training programs.

The new location is at 5991 Chandler Court, Westerville.

This site was developed to encourage independence, work training and community involvement for individuals, according to agency officials. The Alpha Group integrated adult day program also participates in cultural and community experiences.

This location will offer an employment service to a larger geographic area, as Alpha will be expanding its vocational supports. A range of opportunities will be available for those individuals with disabilities who are looking to continue on their path to employment, according to agency officials.

The Alpha Group is partnering with CVS, Plato’s Closet and Staples, which will provide resources to create a real work environment. This location will house a mock CVS store, complete with a cash register and items for stocking shelves. Plato’s Closet donated shelving, racks and clothing to create a retail setting. This will allow participants to acclimate much faster towards gainful employment, officials said.

The Alpha Group has been providing programs and services for individuals with disabilities for more than 45 years in Delaware and surrounding counties.

An open house event is scheduled for 5 p.m. July 19 with a Westerville Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m.
