The Alpha Group’s “Family Day, Duck Race and 5K Duck Waddle” will be Saturday, Aug. 6, at Delaware’s Mingo Park.

Registration for the 5-kilometer event is now open for runners, walkers or “waddlers,” say organizers. Registration for the 5K will start at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m.

Each registration of $35 includes a T-shirt along with a duck entry for the duck races to follow; participants under age 5 are free to run. They will recognize winners with a trophy in the following categories: Male, female, children (12 and under) and disabilities.

The Duck Race will begin at 10 a.m. with nine heat races and a grand finale. Winners of each duck race heat, along with the first-, second- and third-place winner of the grand finale will win a “duck” trophy and prizes.

Duck adoption is $5 each or 3 for $12.

Live music will be sponsored by Hypersounds Entertainment LLC.

A day pass of $10 includes unlimited bounce house time, face painting, 10 game tickets, and a 50 percent discount entry admission to Jack Florance Pool at Mingo Park.

New this year, a craft station sponsored by Pat Catan’s Craft Center will provide duck craft activities.

Free popcorn and food vendors will be available.

This fundraiser supports programs and services provided by The Alpha Group of Delaware Inc. that help individuals with disabilities.
