Delaware police report:

A man was seen standing near the Delaware County Library Thursday afternoon. Officers stopped the man and searched him, finding not only items used to abuse heroin but also DVDs that may have been stolen from the library. He was arrested and charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and taken to the Delaware County Jail. Officers are checking on whether or not the DVDs were stolen.

A mother called police to report that her juvenile son had made suicidal threats on Facebook Thursday night. Police contacted the boy and transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

An adult male would not stop sending text messages to a juvenile girl Thursday night, officers allege. Police said the man has been warned about contacting the girl in the past. Charges are pending.

A man came to police headquarters Friday morning to post bail for his wife after she was arrested Thursday night for driving under the influence of alcohol. However, as officers were speaking to him, they learned he was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The man was given the opportunity to call a sober party to come pick him up but was unsuccessful. He was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and held at the city jail. A sober party finally did pick up the man and he was released — with a summons to appear in Delaware Municipal Court.
