A woman attempted to strangle herself with an appliance cord Tuesday night at an address on South Henry Street. When a care worker tried to help her, she scratched and smacked the care worker’s head. The woman was taken into custody, charged with assault and taken to the Delaware County Jail. She had previously tried to kill herself in a similar fashion Monday, according to police.

A boyfriend drove his girlfriend’s car away from her home on Downing Street without permission Tuesday night. The boyfriend told police he has routinely been allowed to drive the car in the past. The dispute was documented in a report, which will be forwarded to the municipal prosecutor’s office. However, police said the matter is civil in nature rather than criminal.

An 18-year-old was wandering down the first block of West William Street Wednesday morning after midnight. Police spoke to the man after receiving a call and detected the odor of alcohol on the man. They confronted the man, who admitted to consuming alcohol. He was issued a citation for underage drinking.
