Ex-Delaware man Hadsell implicated in stepdaughter’s disappearance

Federal investigators are now saying they believe a former Delaware man abducted his teenage stepdaughter who was later found dead.

WTKR NewsChannel 3 in Hampton Roads, Virginia, reports that Wesley Hadsell, 37, formerly of 28 Cheshire St., Apt. B, Delaware, has been charged with possession of heroin after investigators found heroin residue during a search of Hadsell’s hotel room.

Hadsell was already facing a charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and four counts of obstructing justice, WAVY Channel 10 reported in June.

NewsChannel 3 reports that Hadsell has been in jail for the past eight months on charges stemming from an investigation into the disappearance of his daughter, Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, 18. AJ Hadsell’s body was found in April behind an abandoned home in Southhampton County and investigators have ruled she died of acute heroin poisoning, NewsChannel 3 reports.

While no suspects have been named in her death, NewsChannel 3 reports, court documents indicate that investigators believe Wesley abducted AJ. Investigators reportedly watched Wesley for a week in March and saw him drive erratically, change his clothes and wear a mask.

NewsChannel 3 reports Hadsell’s attorney suggested that others had more motivation to harm AJ Hadsell than her stepfather.

The investigation remains ongoing.
