The city of Delaware Parking and Safety Committee will consider parking restrictions for three areas throughout the city tonight.

The committee will discuss the removal of 15-minute and 2-hour parking restrictions at the southeast corner of East Lincoln Avenue and North Sandusky Street. A resident informed the city the restrictions were not necessary because a business no longer operates in that area, according to city records.

Staff recommend that the restrictions will be removed. But staff will recommend restrictions to further restrict parking on North Liberty Street. Delaware resident Susan Garrett asked the city to relocate the “no parking here to corner” sign further north to accommodate traffic at the traffic signal of Liberty Road and West William Street.

“The lane only allows for 3-4 cars, and anyone wanting to make a left turn (east) on to W. William goes around the cars backed up crossing into the south bound traffic on Liberty. There is an alley between W. William & W. Winter and parking behind all houses,” she said in an email.

In other business, the committee will continue its conversation of parking restrictions for Firestone Drive. Residents spoke at the committee’s August meeting with some in favor and others opposed to the proposal.

The committee will meet at city hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., 7 p.m. in council chambers.
