Delaware’s four-month Park Avenue water-line replacement project is nearing completion.

The city of Delaware is replacing a 1940s-era water main that has a history of seven breaks dating to 2007 and most recently in 2014, city officials said.

Here is where things stand, officials said:

• Crews this week are applying temporary asphalt materials to Park Avenue, between Liberty Street and the CSX railroad tracks. Park Avenue in 2016 will receive a complete and permanent resurfacing. Turf restoration will take place now, and be evaluated again in 2016.

• Contractors will install the final section of water line along Park, between Liberty and Washington streets, beginning Nov. 24. The work will require about a week to complete. Residents may experience traffic delays, restricted street parking, and increased noise during work hours. Water service interruptions are anticipated and the city will try to provide 24 hours of advance notice.

• During this work, the DATA bus stop on Park Avenue will be moved temporarily to Washington Street, across from Ohio Wesleyan University’s Chappelear Drama Center.
