Board to elect officers and consider change orders

The Delaware City Schools Board of Education will meet Monday night for its organizational meeting and will choose officers for the next year as well as approve several staffing changes and change orders for ongoing construction projects.

The board will first select a board president and board vice president for the 2017 calendar year. The nominated board members will be voted on and sworn in at the meeting.

The board will also consider approving board meeting dates for 2017. If approved, the board would meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30, Feb. 13, Feb. 27, March 13, March 27, April 17, May 1, May 15, June 5, June 19, July 10, Aug. 7, Aug. 21, Sept. 5, Sept. 25, Oct. 2, Oct. 23, Nov. 6, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11.

Additionally, the board will consider approving two change orders with 2K General Company for the ongoing construction at Carlisle Elementary School. The change orders would subtract $3,151 and $71,811 from the project’s budgets.

The board will also consider approving several staffing changes including approving the retirement of Earl Layman, a transportation mechanic since 2000 and approving the employment of Jamie Kehres, a cook/cashier at Hayes; Eric Collins, a cross categorical education assistant at Conger Elementary; Matthew Lewis, a custodian at Delaware Hayes High School and Francis Tankovich, a custodian at Hayes.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the board room at Willis Education Center located at 74 W. William St.
