Kalb landscapes at Gallery 22

Sharing realistic and impressionistic images of ordinary places made special is at the heart of why Delaware resident Marty Kalb put together his latest exhibit of landscape paintings and pastels.

Kalb has invited the community to experience these scenes from Delaware County and other locations in Ohio in his solo exhibit “Marty Kalb, Ohio Paintings from Local Collections and the Artist’s Studio” in The Art Castle’s Gallery22, located at 22 W. Winter St., Delaware.

The gallery is open from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and admission is free.

“I want viewers to experience in these paintings, inspired as they are by streams and parks in central Ohio, (that they) are places you come back to, to be at ease,” Kalb said. “I’m grateful to the people who have agreed to loan my paintings back to me for the exhibit, to complement those from my studio.”

Kalb will be at Gallery22 for the First Friday opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, when the ceramic work of Phyllis Kloda will be featured alongside his paintings in a pop-up exhibit for the rest of December.

Kloda is a ceramist who creates sculptural vessels from naturalistic and invented forms.

Both artists are former Ohio Wesleyan University fine arts professors.
