Delaware City Police continue to investigate a robbery that occurred Friday morning at the Chase Bank in downtown Delaware.

Police reported that around 11:18 a.m. Chase Bank, 61 N. Sandusky St., was robbed by a single suspect.

“A lone male robber entered the bank, threatened a patron with a knife and demanded money,” said Delaware Police Captain Adam Moore. “He left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of US currency.”

Moore said the suspect was taken into custody approximately 10 minutes after the initial call without incident several blocks from the bank.

“Thanks to good witness statements and an alert City of Delaware parking control officer,” Moore said.

Delaware Police are holding Jose Angel Santiago Cintron, of Delaware, on one count of robbery and one count of kidnapping. The second charge is the result of him allegedly holding the patron at knifepoint.

Police continue to investigate the robbery. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has additional information is asked to call the Delaware Police tip line at 740-203-1112.

The last bank robbery in the City of Delaware was Aug. 24, 2015 of the PNC Bank on North Sandusky Street.
