‘Mascot Madness’ coming to First Friday

0

The forecast is for warm, fuzzy, and fun as Main Street Delaware celebrates “Mascot Madness” at its April 7 First Friday celebration.

Sponsored by Wendy’s, April’s “Mascot Madness” will feature Wendy herself as well as lots of favorite Delaware and Central Ohio mascots including friends from The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Preservation Parks.

The mascots will be walking around downtown from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting, posing for pictures, giving hugs and high-fives, and helping families to celebrate a spring evening in Downtown Delaware.

At 6:30 p.m., the mascots will hustle, boogie, and tango over to the corner of Sandusky and William streets for a first-ever “Mascot Madness” dance-off.

Stores and restaurants also will stay late for the monthly Main Street Delaware First Friday celebration.

Also springing up soon from Main Street Delaware is a trivia night hosted by its young professional group, YoPro. Trivia night will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 22 at Restoration Brew Worx, 25 N. Sandusky St., Delaware. You can join the YoPros — young professionals in their 20s and 30s who live or work in Delaware County — for a night of networking and fun.

In addition, everyone is invited to a “Clean Your Block Party” from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29. Main Street Delaware, the Delaware General Health District and the City of Delaware are teaming up for the community service event.

All supplies will be provided. Those interested in volunteering is asked to RSVP by April 17 by emailing Jennifer Way-Young at [email protected]. Volunteers will gather April 29 for the clean-up at the Main Street Delaware Office, 20 E. Winter St., Delaware.
