‘JazZoo’ concerts start July 10

The Jazz Arts Group and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are gearing up for the 10th annual “JazZoo Concert Series.”

JazZoo offers four nights of musical entertainment on select Fridays in July and August.

The concerts begin around 8 p.m. (after zoo hours) at the zoo’s outdoor theater and event space, Water’s Edge. All concerts feature artistic director Byron Stripling and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra.

The 2015 JazZoo Concert Series lineup is as follows:

• July 10 – “Hello Dolly – Music From Broadway & The Silver Screen” featuring singer/actress Carly Thomas Smith.

• July 17 – “Basie, Duke & The Big Bands” featuring clarinetist Ken Peplowski.

• July 31 – “Ella, Louis & All That Jazz” featuring Australian vocalist Nicki Parrott.

• Aug. 7 – “Smooth Crooners: Nat King Cole and Beyond” featuring vocalist Denzel Sinclaire.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and general seating is first-come first-served. Food trucks and a cash bar will be available. Guests may bring their own food and seating, but outside alcohol is prohibited.

General adult admission is $30 per show ($35 at the door) or $109 for the complete series. Discounted admission is available for zoo members and Columbus Jazz Orchestra subscribers ($25 if pre-ordered, $35 at the door), and students ($20 with school ID).
