County businesses fail alcohol sting

Four Delaware County businesses failed alcohol compliance tests during recent checks done by Delaware County sheriff’s deputies.

Officials from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that the Certified gas station in Sunbury, Hub Carry Out in Sunbury, Cheshire Market in Galena, and Mia Cucina in Powell all sold alcohol to underage customers.

Officials said a young-looking representative from the sheriff’s office went to several businesses and attempted to purchase alcohol during the operation.

Officials noted that the Lewis Center Meijer and the Sunbury United Dairy Farmers did ask the representative for his ID and did not sell him alcohol.

The compliance checks were conducted by deputies on behalf of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

The locations were reportedly chosen randomly.
