Rothermel

Allen Rothermel has been named village administrator in Sunbury.

During last Wednesday’s Village Council session, council members approved hiring Rothermel at a starting salary of $65,000 a year.

“Where the village is at and the challenges ahead of us, we believe Allen is the man for the job,” said Mayor Tommy Hatfield.

Rothermel, who has resided in Delaware County the past 11 years, comes from the city of Delaware where he formerly served as assistant city manager.

“This just feels right,” Rothermel said as he addressed council members following the vote. “The challenges the village faces fits my skill set. When I come on board, I’ll start looking at short-, medium- and long-term action plans.”

Earlier in his career, Rothermel served 17 years as assistant city manager, interim manager and city manager of Fairborn, Ohio.

Rothermel has a bachelor’s degree in public administration and finance from Miami University and a master’s degree in public administration from New York University.

He started work as Sunbury’s administrator Tuesday morning.

Former administrator Dave Martin retired in December.
