DEFIANCE — Two people, including a former local woman, were killed in a two-vehicle crash at 11:30 a.m. Sunday near Defiance.

Constance M. Gray, 23, a 2009 graduate of Allen East High School, now living in Defiance, died in the accident along with her fiancé, Lucas J. Carnahan, 25, also of Defiance. The couple were planning to marry in the spring.

The accident occurred on state Route 66 north of Banner Road in Tiffin Township. Carnahan was driving a 2002 Jeep Wrangler south on state Route 66 when he lost control and went left of center. Carnahan struck a 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup truck being driven by Bradley E. Bodenbender, 20, of Bryan. Gray was a passenger in Carnahan's vehicle.

Bodenbender was taken to Defiance Regional Hospital by Tiffin Township EMS, where he was treated for minor injuries. Carnahan was not wearing a safety belt while it was reported that Gray and Bodenbender were wearing safety belts.
