The Asbury Arts Series presents Marilyn Nims, mezzo soprano, and Robert Nims, pianist, in a program titled “An American Songbook” on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Asbury United Methodist Church sanctuary.
The program includes songs created by American composers from as early as 1900 to the present day and demonstrates a variety of styles moving through art songs spirituals, and works from the American musical theater. Among the composers represented are Charles Ives, Henry Burleigh, Randall Thompson, Lee Hoiby, Vincent Youmans and Richard Rogers.
The Asbury Arts Series is offered without charge to the public. A free will offering is received to help defray expenses of the series events. Asbury United Methodist Church is located at the corner of Franklin Street and Lincoln Avenue. The sanctuary is handicapped accessible from its rear parking lot entrance.
