Delaware’s Grant Godfrey continued his dominant stretch Wednesday, winning the COGA Junior Tour event at Apple Valley for his fourth straight tourney win of the summer.

The Hayes standout shot a 71 on the first day and a 70 on the second for a two-day total of 141. Dublin’s Camden Solomon finished second in the Boys’ 16-18 Division with a 147 (76, 71) while Utica’s Matt Simmons smoothed out the top three with a 148 (73, 75).

The triumph was Godfrey’s second straight GOGA victory after winning at Turnberry last week.

“I hit the ball a lot better the last two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) than I did last week,” he said, “I just wish I could have putted a little better because I only missed a few greens each day and could have gone really low.

“The putter was fine. The greens just weren’t breaking as much as I thought so I had to start playing less break … that’s when I started making more putts.”

Godfrey returns to action next week in the Optimist Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla.
