Grant Godfrey, a soon-to-be junior at Delaware Hayes High School, won his third tournament of the summer Thursday, coming from three shots back to win the COGA (Central Ohio Golf Association) two-day tournament at Turnberry golf course.

Godfrey was pleased with the way he played, but, despite taking home the championship plaque at the end of the day, said there was room for improvement.

“I think I did a good job scoring,” he said. “I made four birdies each day, but I had a hard time staying in the moment. I was too focused on shooting a low score rather than taking one shot at a time.”

Godfrey was consistent, though, shooting a 72 on the first day and 73 on the second to finish with a tw0-day total of 145, a mark good enough to give him the one-stroke win.

He returns to action next week in the Optimist Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla.
