The sixth annual “Spirit of Olentangy” Community Night will be held from 7:30 to 11 p.m. March 8 at The Shops at Worthington Place, 7227 N. High St., Worthington.

“We have two major fundraisers each year in the community,” volunteer board of trustees president Jim Waters told The Gazette. “One is a golf outing in the fall and the other is our community night in the winter or spring.”

The adults-only event will feature casino games, food and beverages, entertainment by Music Legends Live, a silent auction and new this year, designer purse bingo.

“People can purchase a ticket ($20) to be part of 10 rounds of bingo, and each round has a designer purse as the prize,” Waters said.

He said the non-profit Olentangy Education Foundation’s mission “is to enhance academic excellence by providing teacher grants for innovative programs that are not covered by the school district budget, and also we provide scholarships to graduating seniors from each of the three high schools every year. In 2013, we awarded over $50,000 in grants and scholarships; and since 2001, we’ve distributed over $500,000.”

The OEF said it expects more than 300 guests for “Spirit of Olentangy.” The entrance is at the South Entry near Panera. After 8 p.m., the other mall entrances will be locked. Admission is $30.

Waters said walk-ins are welcome, but registering online is preferred by visiting http://olentangyeducationfoundation.org/2014/01/14/6th-annual-spirit-of-olentangy-community-night/
