The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office is honoring Powell Police Detective Ryan Pentz with its “Top Cop” designation.
Pentz played an integral role in putting Joshua Johnson behind bars for a decade. Johnson admitted to 22 counts of identity fraud and theft of credit cards.
Pentz spent many hours locating and combing through video surveillance of Johnson using stolen cards, following up with witnesses and retrieving receipts.
“This was a case that saw crimes occurring in multiple cities and multiple jurisdictions,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien. “At one point, the defendant even fled to California to evade punishment.”
The Prosecutor’s Office thanks Pentz for being a “Top Cop” and helping to protect the community, O’Brien said.
The Top Cop award is given by the Prosecutor’s Office every eight weeks to law enforcement involved in Delaware County cases.
Young will be given a complimentary dinner for two by “Top Cops” sponsor Cracker Barrel.
