Delaware City Police are looking for a suspect who exposed himself Friday at Blue Limestone Park.
Police were dispatched around 330 p.m. to the park on W. Williams Street after a 22-year-old woman and her 11-year old sister witnessed a man with his pants down engaged in a sexual act, said Captain Adam Moore, spokesperson for Delaware Police.
He said the incident took place at the west end of the park in a secluded area. The suspect was described as a male in his mid-30s with short black hair, around 6 feet tall and weighing around 220 pounds. He left the park before police arrived and is believed have been driving a red Ford Taurus sedan with a rear spoiler.
Moore said the investigation is ongoing.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is also continuing an investigation into a rape and assault of an 18-year-old man Aug. 5 at Highbanks Metro Park in Lewis Center. In that incident, the suspect was described as a middle-aged male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair and a goatee with graying hair.
“We have reached a point in our investigation where we do not have any belief those two situations are connected,” Moore said.
“We will be keeping an eye on the park and we encourage everyone: if you see something, say something.”
DCSO spokesperson Tracy Whited told The Gazette that the incident at Highbanks Metro park “certainly is a great reminder for people to practice some simple safety tips when hiking or jogging. When possible, go in pairs; be cognizant of your surroundings; have a cell phone with you and easily accessible; and if using headphones, only have one earplug in so you can hear around you.”
Whited said DCSO is still looking for identification of the suspect and encouraged the public to call the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 740-833-2800 if anyone recognized or has seen the suspect.
Anyone with information on the suspect involved in the incident at Blue Limestone Park on Friday can call 740-203-1111.
