It’ll be a dog day at Champion Feed & Pet Supply in Delaware on Saturday.

Champion Feed & Pet Supply, 2524 St. Rt. 37 East, Delaware, will be hosting its 4th annual Dog Days of Summer Dog Bath & 4-H Fun Agility Show 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 16. Proceeds from the community dog wash will directly benefit the pets at the Humane Society of Delaware County.

New to this year’s dog wash is the Fun 4-H Agility Dog Show from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all 4-H members. Prizes will be awarded for the dogs.

The dog wash kicks off after the show at 11 a.m.

Other activities include temporary pet tattoos for a donation provided by Delaware Pet Grooming. Champion Feed will also be serving a lunch of a hotdog, pop and bag of chips for whatever amount you care to share. Champion Feed’s Pet Vet, Dr. Sharon Heisler, will be onsite for a meet and greet and will be offering $5 heartworm tests. There will also be a 4-H Gourmet Bake Sale.

Owners may have their dogs bathed for $10 and toe nails trimmed for $5, or can have both services done for $12. Angele Wood, of Paws Hooves Fins and Feathers, will offer free teeth brushing and ear cleaning at their rescue group’s tent with the donation of an item for HSDC’s shelter.

HSDC will have dogs available for adoption at both Champion Feed and at the society’s shelter located at 4920 S.R. 37 East in Delaware. Select dogs can be adopted for whatever amount you care to donate as part of HSDC’s “$100K Challenge Dog Days of Summer” adoption event. Visitors to HSDC’s shelter can also purchase baked goods provided by the Delaware Area Career Center’s Culinary Arts Class.

“We love watching this event grow each year and really appreciate all the help provided by the 4-H groups,” said store manager, Scott Shipman. “Delaware County is a very pet-friendly community and, rain or shine, we’re going to have a great time this Saturday.”

Champion Feed & Pet Supply began hosting the annual “Dog Days of Summer Dog Bath” four years ago in the store’s parking lot.

“We’ve been so fortunate to have Champion Feed & Pet Supply as a long-time supporter and the host of the community dog bath,” said HSDC marketing manager Misty Bay. “We extend our gratitude to Scott Shipman and his staff, Delaware Pet Grooming, Angele Wood and her PAWS crew, the DACC students, and all of the 4-H groups for pulling together for yet another great summer-ending fundraiser for the humane society.”
