The Delaware County Genealogical Society’s next free program is on the “25 Common Mistakes in Genealogy,” at 7:30 p.m. July 1 in the Community Room of the library, 84 E. Winter St.

Society program chair Nancy Bendle told The Gazette that one of the most common mistakes in researching one’s family tree “is you have to beware of what’s on the Internet, because many times they’re wrong. Trying to download somebody’s genealogy is really tricky business.”

Leona Gustafson, who has been researching her family history since 1975, will be the speaker.

She is currently president of the Union County chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. She maintains a website, www.genealogybug.net.

Gustafson’s PowerPoint program will profile the pitfalls of genealogical research, and gives ways to prevent them. Handouts will be available.

Future programs are: Ed Lentz on the “History of Delaware and Franklinton,” Aug. 5; Betty Darst will portray First Lady Lucy Webb Hayes, Sept. 2; Brad Lepper of the Ohio Historical Society on the Burning Tree Mastodon, Oct. 7.

Admission is free.
