To the editor:
April is Donate Life Month.
This is the 10th year that I have had a connection to organ donation. My daughter passed away 10 years ago this month from a brain aneurysm. Because she had told them at the License Bureau that she wanted to be an organ donor and had also told her family, we were able to honor her wishes.
Betsy was a giving young woman. She was able to save the lives of four people. I bought a necklace about a month ago. It’s a clock with no hands to keep track of time. That’s because it represents that Betsy’s gift is timeless. Her gift will live on for generations to come. On the national waiting list there are 121,933 people waiting for an organ transplant. Within the past 10 years, 2,000 men, women and children have died waiting on a transplant in Ohio. A single donor has the potential to save the lives of 50 more.
To register, you can go to www.lifelineofohio.org or call 1-800-525-5667. Why wouldn’t we want to help others? Lifeline of Ohio will be holding a candlelight ceremony honoring the heroes of donation at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at 770 Kinnear Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43212, rain or shine. The event is called Lifelines of Light.
We will be there to honor Betsy.
Please say yes to donation and help spread awareness.
