Barons send seniors out in style

Bryan Perrine had a goal and an assist and Matthew Viri-Dunahue found the back of the net for the first time in his varsity career to lead the Buckeye Valley boys soccer team to a 3-0 Senior Night win over visiting Galion Monday in Delaware.

“I thought we had some really good build up from the back line to the midfield,” BV coach Eric Staley said. “Galion did a good job clogging up the middle once we got to the final third … but we had some really good combination play to get the three goals.

“Obviously, Bryan had a strong game. And, it was good to see MVD get his first one.”

Perrine broke the scoring seal off a feed from Alex Brown in the 22nd minute and set up Viri-Dunahue’s goal early in the second half.

Perrine had a say in the final goal as well, sending a cross into the box that turned into a Galion own goal in the 70th minute.

Jack Scheeler had two saves in the BV (7-5-2) net.

The win sent seniors Cole Davis, Jacob Catt and Bennett Allen out in style.

“I’m very happy for Cole, Jacob and Bennett,” Staley said. “Now we have to get ready for Highland.”

GIRLS SOCCER

Buckeye Valley scored at will Monday, rolling to a 7-0 MOAC win over host Galion.

Ella Kiener and Cami Crawford split time in the Buckeye Valley (6-6-1) goal, each recording one save.

FIELD HOCKEY

Olentangy Berlin’s Courtney Suchan scored her team’s lone goal in Monday’s 5-1 loss to Columbus School for Girls.
