Get your gift wrap ready: The City of Delaware and Rumpke have announced their trash collection schedules for the holidays.
The City’s website said its offices will close at noon today, Dec. 24, and remain closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25; and Wednesday, Jan. 1.
“Residential refuse and recycling crews will make weekly collections utilizing an accelerated schedule on Dec. 24,” the site said. “The balance of the weekly collections will operate on the ‘next day’ collection schedule beginning on Thursday, Dec. 26, and continuing through Saturday, Dec. 28. Residential refuse collections on Jan. 1, Thursday, Jan. 2, and Friday, Jan. 3 will be made the day following your normal day.”
For dumpster collections, the schedules is: Dec. 24 will be completed by noon. Dec. 25 and 26 will both be collected on Dec. 26, and Dec. 27 on will follow a normal collection schedule.
Additional non-tagged bags placed outside of tip carts will be collected from Dec. 26 through Dec. 31. Christmas trees and holidays greens will be collected Jan. 6-31.

Rumpke Waste & Recycling Services announced that service will not occur Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Customers with service today will not be affected, and service will be delayed one day for the rest of the week through Jan. 4.
