Kat, a 3-year-old spayed female Calico 6.8-pound Domestic Longhair mix cat, joins Biscuit, a 6-year-old neutered male tri-color Beagle, and Rachael, a 2-year, 8-month-old spayed female 6-pound Torti Domestic Shorthair mix cat, as this week’s featured Dog and Cats of The Week available for adoption at the Humane Society of Delaware County (HSDC) located east of Delaware on U.S. 36/Ohio 37.

Kat was brought to the HSDC on February 3, 2014 because her previous family did not have the resources to care for her. A member of the shelter staff guessed her name is short for Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, because Kat does look the part of an exotic beauty. She would be right at home in an ancient land of pagodas and mountains, but even more at home with your family in in her favorite spot in your home. Kat does well around children and dogs, but no so well around other cats. She is not front declawed. Thinking of making a cat a new member of your family? Do you have a thing for the Calico breed? If so, pay a visit to the shelter and meet Kat. She will greet you at the front entrance to the HSDC cat room.

The adoption fee for cats is $60. Kittens (6 months old and younger) are $85.

Biscuit recently came to the HSDC from the Delaware County Dog Warden as a stray. While little is known about his past, Biscuit is a friendly Beagle who is a lap-sitter and who loves to cuddle. It is felt that he would do well in a home with older children. Is there a dog in your future? Do you have a thing for the Beagle breed? If your answers are YES, then be sure to stop by the shelter and get acquainted with Biscuit and consider giving him his new forever home.

The adoption fee for dogs is $115. Puppies (6 months old and younger) are $130.

Rachael came to the HSDC in late July. While she was shy, she did get adopted. However, she was returned to the shelter when she was not as cuddly as her new family had expected. While Rachael loves to be petted and made over; she is not so fond of being carried around. Rachael is very playful both with toys by herself and playing with the other cats at the shelter. She also loves to sit on the HSDC’s porch and watch the dogs and people as they go by. Rachael has been observed cuddled up napping with another cat so she would be great company for cats already in your home. Looking to adopt a cat? Plan on visiting the shelter and getting acquainted with Rachael. Because she has been at the HSDC for over 100 days, her adoption fee is $30.
