Floyd Everett ‘Deac’ Deacon

Floyd Everett “Deac” Deacon, 78, formerly of Columbus passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Tuesday (Oct. 20, 2009).

He had been a resident of Country View of Sunbury since 2005 with his wife of 53 years, Ann “Annie” Phillips Deacon, who preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2008. He was born on Sept. 28, 1931 in Pike County to the late Gladys (Grooms) and Floyd Deacon Sr. He worked in the roofing industry most of his life, operating Floyd Deacon Roofing.

He is survived by sisters, Shirley (Bucky) Schrader, Carol (Harry) Bizzarri and Kay (Dick) Cross and their families; many friends; his Country View family; and his church family at Genoa Baptist Church, where he and Annie were charter members.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Ryan.

Floyd’s goal was to be able to come back to church; his Home Going Celebration service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Road at Ohio 3, Westerville. The Rev. Wayne Booth will officiate and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be held at a later date, arrangements are entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Genoa Baptist Church.
