Mark Butler: God’s call and response

0

Most of us come to a point in our lives when we are called and asked to respond to significant events in our lives and in the lives of others.

As community leaders and people of God, we are positioned with the authority to determine and decide which life event is of greater importance. With this decision, we can create blessing or cursing for ourselves and other people.

How does a relationship with God determine our call and response? I am so glad you asked that question.

First of all, one must believe that God is greater than what you see in your mirror.

Second, an attitude of humility will increase our call and response.

Third, developing and practicing a life of prayer also increases our call and response.

Evidence of God’s call and response in our lives is when we are serving those who are in need in our community, and praying for people who believe that there is no such need.

We are called to respond to God in the midst of life’s positive and negative events. I believe our call and response can be summed up in what Jesus said, “Love God with all your heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself.”
