Pacers pull away from Falcons in 7-3 win

Mason W. Davis homered and Ben Yoakum and Noah Watts had a pair of doubles apiece as the Hayes baseball team knocked off host Franklin Heights 7-3 Friday in Columbus.

The Pacers (6-13) started fast, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. The Falcons answered with two in the bottom half, but Hayes dominated the rest of the way.

Watts had three RBI to go with his doubles while Yoakum had two knocked in and a run scored to go with his.

Mason J. Davis picked up the win on the mound, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking two in his seven innings of work.

Liberty 4, Dublin Coffman 0

Mitch Milheim tossed a gem, allowing just one hit in seven shutout innings to lead the Patriots (18-3) to a key OCC-Central Division win over the visiting Shamrocks Friday in Powell.

Corey Mayer led Liberty at the plate, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Ryan Hoffman knocked in three of the four Patriot runs while Mason Groves and Chase Gresock finished with two hits apiece.

Also: Jonathan Alder 10, Buckeye Valley 0; Mount Vernon 9, Olentangy 4.

SOFTBALL

The Olentangy softball team scored 17 runs — and did it in just two big innings — on the way to a convincing 17-0 OCC-Capital Division win over visiting Worthington Kilbourne Friday in Lewis Center.

The Braves (10-10) scored eight runs in the first inning and another nine in the third to smooth out the scoring summary.

Sydney Wagner finished with a game-best three RBI to go with a double and three runs scored, Kristen Bartel closed a perfect 3-for-3 and Brooke Wells and Ashley Post had two hits apiece.

Logan Sutton and Alyssa Boyd combined to pitch the shutout. Sutton allowed four hits while striking out two and walking three in four innings of action while Boyd struck out a batter and walked one in the fifth.

Also: Orange 3, Franklin Heights 0; Jonathan Alder 12, Buckeye Valley 2; Hilliard Davidson 10, Liberty 0.

BOYS LACROSSE

Trent Slavik poured in a game-high five goals while Nathan Heiser and Andy Nero had three apiece as Buckeye Valley cruised past visiting Johnstown 16-3 Friday night in Delaware.

Carson James found the back of the net twice while Zach Garber, Sydney Tangen and Hayden Kaiser also scored for the Barons.

Nick Gerald finished with six saves in the BV goal.

Also: Liberty 18, Westerville Central 7; St. Xavier 15, Olentangy 5.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Dublin Jerome 15, Orange 14.

TENNIS

Big Walnut 5, Franklin Heights 0; Hayes 5, Mount Vernon 0.
