Tyler Lichter powered into the end zone from 11 yards out, giving Orange a 7-3 lead with 10:33 left in the second quarter, but the offense stalled after that as host Watterson rallied for a 13-7 non-league win Friday in Columbus.

The Eagles’ Stephen Markos gave his team a 10-7 lead with a two-yard TD run just before the break, and Kevin Laming nailed a 40-yard field goal with 9:35 left to smooth out the scoring summary.

Pioneer quarterback J.D. Dayuff completed 12 of his 19 passes for 123 yards while Lichter carried the ball 16 times for 89 yards and his TD.

Hunter Shepherd led the Orange (0-2) receivers with one grab for 42 yards.

Markos completed nine of his 14 passes for just 51 yards, but did a bit more damage on the ground, rushing for 73.

The Pioneers’ Blake Skuratowicz led what was a solid defensive effort despite the setback, recording 13.5 tackles, one for loss.
