Braves stay hot

The Olentangy girls volleyball team has been sharp so far this season … and Tuesday was no exception.

The Braves won a competitive first set, an even tighter second and cruised in the third to notch a 25-20, 26-24, 25-10 non-league win over host Big Walnut in Sunbury.

Olivia Margolies led the attack with eight kills while Lexie Weithman anchored the defense with 16 digs.

Hilliard Davidson 3, Liberty 1

The Patriots started strong, winning the first set, but couldn’t keep the momentum on their sideline during Tuesday’s 25-19, 13-25, 24-26, 20-25 loss to Hilliard Davidson.

Madison Brenner led Liberty with eight kills, Maddie Fogg chipped in a team-best 32 assists and Audrey Meeker finished with 19 digs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Orange picked up its second win in as many days, dropping visiting Westerville Central 4-1 in OCC-Buckeye Division action Tuesday in Lewis Center.

Pioneer winners included Kortney Reed (6-2, 6-4 at second singles), Hannah Logan (6-1, 6-1 at third singles), Mary Damko and Izzy Prislusky (6-4, 6-4 at first doubles) and the duo of Abby Buter and Livie Mauger (6-0, 6-0 at second doubles).

River Valley 4, Buckeye Valley 1

Fiona Tseng picked up the Barons’ lone win Tuesday against host River Valley, notching a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at second singles.

BOYS GOLF

Olentangy Liberty knocked off host Thomas Worthington Tuesday at York, firing a combined 155.

Trey Rath led the Patriots with a 36. Other Liberty contributors included Kyle Mitchell (39), Ronnie Foth (39), Jon Flees (41), Jacob Hickman (43) and Cole Corder (45).

The Cardinals finished with a combined 163.

BOYS SOCCER

Delaware Christian had trouble getting good looks at the goal as visiting Centennial, which finished with a 23-6 edge in shots, nabbed a 2-0 non-league win Tuesday in Delaware.

Eagle (1-2-0) keeper George McRae kept the game scoreless through a half, recording eight saves. The Stars got on track in the second half, though, getting a goal from Sam Benson in the 64th minute. They added some insurance off a corner kick in the final minute.

Curtis Bean, who came on in relief of McRae in the second half, finished with 16 saves in the DCS net.

Also: Hayes 1, Hilliard Darby 0; Dublin Coffman 4, Olentangy 0.

GIRLS SOCCER

Kayla Primm scored the game’s lone goal while Emma Spinner finished with three saves to lead Olentangy to a 1-0 win over host Coffman Tuesday in Dublin.

The Braves improved to 2-0-1 with the win.

Liberty 2, Marysville 0

Ellie Bambek scored off a feed from Madison Rapier and Abby Jones added an insurance goal as the Patriots nabbed a 2-0 non-league win over the Monarchs Tuesday evening.
