Golden Eagles move into 1st place

The Big Walnut volleyball team picked up a key league win Tuesday, dropping visiting New Albany in three sets to join the Eagles atop the OCC standings.

The Golden Eagles took the first set 25-17 before winning the next two by respective scores of 25-22 and 25-21 to seal the deal.

Both teams are now 6-1 in league play.

Kelsie Imertreijs led Big Walnut with 10 kills while Mac Podraza and Kaley Rammelsberg added eight apiece. Emma Urhammer was also solid, finishing with seven kills, while Meredith Thomas anchored the defense with 25 digs and Alex Brehm added 15 digs and two aces.

Olentangy 3, Westerville North 0

The Braves stayed atop the OCC-Buckeye Division standings with a solid win Tuesday, handling the Warriors 25-13, 25-18, 25-16.

Nhu Do continued her stellar senior season with a team-best 13 kills.

GIRLS TENNIS

Big Walnut won a thrilling three-setter at second doubles on the way to a 4-1 non-league win over host Reynoldsburg Tuesday afternoon.

Golden Eagle winners included Macie Kercsmar (6-1, 6-1 at first singles), Lexie Kirkpatrick (6-3, 7-6 at third singles), Katie Germann and Kayleigh Cummins (6-4, 6-4 at first doubles) and Anna Faust and Maria Boyer (7-5, 6-7, 1-0 at second doubles).

GIRLS SOCCER

Delaney Earl finished with a pair of goals and Hannah Sargent made five saves in goal as Orange battled to a 2-2 draw against visiting Westerville South Tuesday in Lewis Center.

Liberty 3, Westerville North 2

Serina Dirrig scored a late goal to lift the Patriots to a solid win over the Warriors Tuesday evening.

Natalie Amodeo scored a pair of first-half goals to give Liberty, which improved to 9-1-0 with the win, a 2-0 lead at the break.

Also: Worthington Kilbourne 4, Hayes 1.
