Doug “Dougie” Adams was in the bedroom next to the one where Joel Sellers shot and killed George McArthur in the morning hours of March 14 at 781 Liberty Road in Delaware. “I heard a knock on the bedroom door,” Adams said during testimony Tuesday in the Delaware County Common Pleas Court trial of Sellers. “That’s when the commotion happened. I heard a thump sound. George’s pit bull jumped on the bed with me. Then, I heard a pop. Me and the dog both jumped. Joel came out and said, ‘Call 911, I just shot George.’

The trial of the Delaware resident and Iraq War veteran accused of killing his roommate in March went under way Monday, as prosecutors re-created the crime scene and presented testimony from two witnesses. In opening statements, Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien told jurors that Joel Sellers, 25, killed George McArthur, 24, a childhood friend, after they argued about a party hosted at the townhouse they lived in together at 781 Liberty Road in Delaware.
