Festive homes, trees will be focus of Holiday tour

Eight Delaware houses will be decked in their Christ­mas best this Sat­ur­day for the Women’s City Club Hol­i­day Tour of Homes, an annual tour of inte­rior Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tions that ben­e­fits the ser­vice orga­ni­za­tion serv­ing sin­gle, work­ing women of mod­est income.

Obama attacks GOP field on bus tour

DECORAH, Iowa — Hit­ting back against an embold­ened GOP, Pres­i­dent Barack Obama launched a rare direct attack Mon­day on the Repub­li­can pres­i­den­tial field, crit­i­ciz­ing his poten­tial 2012 rivals for their blan­ket oppo­si­tion to any deficit-cutting com­pro­mise involv­ing new taxes. “That’s just not com­mon sense,” Obama told the crowd at a town hall-style meet­ing in Can­non Falls, Minn., as he kicked off a three-day bus tour through Min­nesota, Iowa and Illinois.

The expe­ri­enced stargazer will rec­og­nize the star num­bered “61” in the con­stel­la­tion Cygnus, the Swan, almost imme­di­ately. The begin­ner seems to have absolutely no rea­son at all to seek it out. This rel­a­tively faint point of light is, after all, not one of the con­stel­la­tions on the imag­i­nary lines that iden­tify the Swan’s shape. Why bother?
