CLEVELAND — The home where a ser­ial killer dumped the remains of the 11 women he mur­dered was torn apart Tues­day by a demo­li­tion crew, a move that neigh­bors and vic­tims’ rel­a­tives said would help bring clo­sure and stop gawk­ers from seek­ing out what some have dubbed a “house of horrors.”

CLEVELAND — A ser­ial killer who dumped the remains of 11 women in and around his home deserves a new trial because a juror expressed hor­ror dur­ing a jury visit to the scene and com­plained after the ver­dict that he had winked at her dur­ing the trial, accord­ing to a court doc­u­ment filed by his defense team. The new trial request was filed Fri­day morn­ing, just hours before Anthony Sow­ell, 51, was sen­tenced to death by Judge Dick Ambrose. The con­vic­tion and death sen­tence will be appealed auto­mat­i­cally to the state Supreme Court.

CLEVELAND — Flawed jury selec­tion in the case against a man charged with killing 11 women and dump­ing their remains around his home puts any con­vic­tion at risk of being over­turned on appeal, the pros­e­cu­tion said Wednes­day in request­ing a mis­trial. Cuya­hoga Com­mon Pleas Court Judge Dick Ambrose refused to declare a mis­trial and, sep­a­rately, rejected a renewed defense request to move the trial of Anthony Sow­ell, 51, because of pre­trial publicity.

CLEVELAND — Jury selec­tion for­mally began Mon­day in the trial of a con­victed sex offender who is charged with killing 11 women and hid­ing their remains in his Cleve­land home and back­yard. Anthony Sow­ell, 51, was seated between his two defense attor­neys as prospec­tive jurors were led into Cuya­hoga County Com­mon Pleas Court.
