Study links vets to brain disease seen in athletes

WASHINGTON — A small study raises more con­cern about the long-term con­se­quences of brain injuries suf­fered by thou­sands of sol­diers — sug­gest­ing they may be at risk of devel­op­ing the same degen­er­a­tive brain dis­ease as some retired foot­ball players.

A Pow­ell com­pany that has been doing stu­dent ath­lete drug test­ing since the late ’90s in the Olen­tangy School Dis­trict has pre­sented a pro­posal to offer the ser­vice for free while the dis­trict eval­u­ates if it can afford to bring it back.

Man who left infant alone to rob pizza shop gets 3 years

A 19-year-old Delaware man will pay for his deci­sion to leave his infant son at home while he held up a local pizza shop at gun­point. Delaware County Court of Com­mon Pleas Judge Everett H. Krueger on Thurs­day sen­tenced Brad Lee Miller, of 60 Gris­wold St., to three years in prison. He will be eli­gi­ble for early release after six months. Miller pleaded guilty to aggra­vated rob­bery, car­ry­ing a con­cealed weapon and child endan­ger­ment last month.
