New property values posted online

An online resource list­ing the 2012 val­ues of Delaware County real estate has gone live. New val­ues can be checked by vis­it­ing co.delaware.oh.us/auditor and click­ing on the blue “2011 Prop­erty Val­ues” ban­ner across the top of the page. The web­site allows users to check their prop­er­ties by enter­ing their last name or unique par­cel ID number.

Super­in­ten­dents for the Buck­eye Val­ley and Delaware City school dis­tricts made their cases Thurs­day night at a voter edu­ca­tion event for why their dis­tricts’ res­i­dents should agree to give them more tax money this November.

Park employees see raises amid recession

At a time where many other pub­lic agen­cies are lay­ing off employ­ees, cut­ting pro­grams and ask­ing for tax increases to pre­vent doing more of either, Preser­va­tion Parks of Delaware County has handed out raises of at least 23 per­cent to a third of its full-time work­force. Most notable among the increases since 2009 is a 30 per­cent raise — almost $21,000 — given to exec­u­tive direc­tor Rita Au, mak­ing her among the highest-paid gov­ern­ment employ­ees in Delaware County.

Officials settle Ohio absentee applications spat

TOLEDO — Ohio will mail absen­tee bal­lot request forms to vot­ers in all coun­ties ahead of the 2012 pres­i­den­tial elec­tion, set­tling a dis­pute between the state’s top elec­tion offi­cial and the leader of the state’s largest county. As part of the agree­ment announced Fri­day, Cuya­hoga County offi­cials agreed not to send out unso­licited mail­ings for absen­tee bal­lots for this year’s gen­eral elec­tion. Cuya­hoga County offi­cials in Cleve­land had threat­ened to defy Sec­re­tary of State Jon Husted’s order bar­ring county elec­tions boards from mail­ing the unso­licited appli­ca­tions. The county’s coun­cil ear­lier in the week autho­rized mail­ings to all reg­is­tered voters.

While it still needs final approval from the Ohio Sec­re­tary of State, the Delaware County Repub­li­can Party has selected a Sun­bury busi­ness owner and party leader to fill an open seat on the county elec­tions board.
