WASHINGTON (AP) — Amer­i­cans bor­rowed more in Sep­tem­ber to buy cars and attend col­lege, but they charged less to their credit cards for a third straight month. The fig­ures sug­gest that con­sumers are grow­ing more cau­tious about tak­ing on high-interest debt in a weak economy.

Deal would have little impact on economy till ‘14

WASHINGTON (AP) — The deal reached by Con­gress to raise the debt ceil­ing and cut more than $2 tril­lion in pub­lic spend­ing should have only a minor impact on the econ­omy for the next two years.
