Thursday night, it was the latter for the Ashley American Legion Post 518 baseball team.Ashley fought through adversity all through the game to close within a run, but a ninth-inning rally fell short, and Marysville’s Union Post 79 A earned its way to a title shot following a 5–4 victory over Post 518 in the 2011 Ohio American Legion District 6 Tournament at Highland Community Park in Sparta.
It wasn’t hard for the Ashley American Legion Post 518 baseball team to get started Saturday and Sunday in the 2011 Ohio Division 6 Tournament, but the team hit a wall on Wednesday.Post 518 had trouble at the outset but rallied in the late going, only to fall to the Knox County Royals/Utica Post 92 11–5 in the Upper Bracket Championship game at Highland Community Park in Sparta.
With over 200 teams participating from 13 different states, the Buckeye Elite Tournament is a big deal, so Ashley American Legion Post 518’s baseball team fared pretty well after their first two games.Ashley rallied for a run in the eighth inning to knock off the Cincinnati Flash 17U team 3–2, but Post 518’s rally in the second game fell short and Cleveland’s T3 Pelicans defeated the host team 6–5 in the nightcap.
The Ashley American Legion Post 518 baseball team is in for a harried week, but started things off with a bang.Post 518 outslugged the visiting Johnstown Post 254 Hawks 10–4 in the game and closed with a 14–1, five-inning victory Tuesday night at Oxford Township Park.

The Ashley American Legion Post 518 baseball team had eight hit’s the night before against Granville, but could not string them together.That problem disappeared Wednesday, as Post 518 had 14 hits, scored at least three runs in three different innings and recorded its second victory over Marysville’s Union Post 79A this season, this time by a 12–6 count at Marysville High School.
