Cincinnati was abuzz this week heading into the annual matchup between the city’s major collegiate basketball programs, Cincinnati and Xavier. Coming into the game, Xavier was ranked as the 8th best team in the nation and so it wasn’t surprising that as the final seconds ticked off the clock, Xavier was winning by a comfortable margin.

Sometimes a person needs a shock to the system to get them back on track. So do basketball teams.The Big Walnut Golden Eagles’ shock came in the form of a 12–2 third quarter that gave Buckeye Valley its first lead of the game, but the Golden Eagles picked up their play in the final period and escaped with a 41–37 victory in a non-league game between county rivals Tuesday at Big Walnut High School.
