BV residents air concerns over budget reduction plans

Hun­dreds of Buck­eye Val­ley School Dis­trict res­i­dents had an oppor­tu­nity to air their griev­ances to school board mem­bers Wednes­day night about the two options pre­sented by super­in­ten­dent Jamie Grube to reduce the district’s bud­get by at least $1.3 mil­lion ahead of next school year.

Tax time means a trip to the library

It’s that time of year again, and dozens of you have already vis­ited the Delaware County Dis­trict Library seek­ing out tax forms. We have put tables for pre-printed fed­eral, state and local tax forms in the vestibules at all loca­tions for your con­ve­nience, but if you don’t find the form you’re look­ing for, you can always use the library’s Inter­net com­put­ers to search the IRS and Ohio Depart­ment of Tax­a­tion web­sites to print the form you need.

Buckeye Valley officials to cut $1.3 million

To quell rumors spread­ing in the com­mu­nity about upcom­ing bud­get reduc­tions, Buck­eye Val­ley School Dis­trict offi­cials plan to unveil a pro­posed list of cuts total­ing $1.3 mil­lion in sav­ings at the Feb­ru­ary board of edu­ca­tion meet­ing, they announced Tuesday.

Buck­eye Val­ley School Dis­trict Super­in­ten­dent Jamie Grube has applied for the same post in the Pick­er­ing­ton Local School District.

The recent dis­cov­ery of unmarked graves on the for­mer Delaware County Home prop­erty could foil the Delaware County com­mis­sion­ers’ plans to demol­ish the dilap­i­dated build­ing that once housed the area’s poor, elderly and men­tally ill.

Former County Home to be reviewed for historic value

The old Delaware County Home, which for­merly housed the county’s poor, elderly and men­tally ill, could be slated for a spring 2012 demo­li­tion fol­low­ing a vote from Delaware County com­mis­sion­ers to hire an inspec­tor to exam­ine the derelict prop­erty for his­toric value.

Delaware council, BV school candidates share views

While some dif­fer­ence of opin­ion emerged, a pub­lic forum for Delaware city coun­cil can­di­dates this week was largely an ami­able affair. Squar­ing off were coun­cil­woman Lisa Keller and chal­lenger Jim Roberts for the city’s Sec­ond Ward seat, coun­cil­man Joe DiGen­ova and chal­lenger Robert Hoff­man for the city’s Third Ward seat, and coun­cil­man Andrew Brush and chal­lenger Larry Gar­rett for the Fourth Ward. First Ward Coun­cil­man Chris Jones is run­ning uncontested.
