Harold H. Hayes, 95, of Marion and a former 42-year resident of North Franklin Street in Delaware, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 5, 2001) at home.

Kindergartners at St. Mary Catholic Church fiddled with violins during a special presentation Friday afternoon. Parent volunteer Mia Gilbert introduced the students to a few varieties of string instruments, which were supplied by the Loft Violin Shop in Columbus.

Bailee, a 4-year-old, and Brutus, a 3-year-old, both from Sunbury, instantly calmed down when the Rev. James Black of St. Mary Catholic Church said a prayer, blessed them and sprinkled holy water over their foreheads.
Robert Joseph Diersing passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2011) at the age of 72.
All area pets can be blessed Friday during a special ceremony at the Humane Society of Delaware County. A Blessing of the Animals ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Friday at the society’s shelter, 4920 Ohio 37E in Delaware, in honor of National Homeless Animal Day. The public is encouraged to bring their pets and receive a personal blessing.
James “Jim” Stephen Jacquemin, 53, of Delaware passed away early Wednesday morning (July 27, 2011) at his residence with his family by his side, after a brief struggle with cancer.

For many, the mention of an Orthodox Church brings up images of churches from specific countries and cultures — Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox. The Orthodox Church seems to have its name attached to almost every country with a Christian presence, including Japan, China, Finland, Latvia, Australia, and the United States has its Orthodox Church in America.
