Apple’s blowout quarter propels Nasdaq to big gain

NEW YORK — The Nasdaq composite index shot 2 percent higher Wednesday, powered by a surge in Apple. The iPhone maker’s stock climbed $50 after the company once again blew past Wall Street’s profit forecasts.

Stylish Urban Living

Several years ago, when The Ohio State University gave a new contract to then head football coach Jim Tressel, Case Study examined the terms of the coach’s contract. With Tressel now working as a game day consultant for the winless Indianapolis Colts (and rumored to be under consideration to coach at UCLA), it seems only fair to give the same scrutiny to the contract signed by new head coach Urban Meyer.

PARKLAND, Fla. — Jean Nidetch ambles down the hallway of the senior community where she lives, two cups of Coca-Cola teetering on her walker. In her one-bedroom apartment, there are Klondike bars in the freezer and, in the fridge, Baileys Irish Cream beside Chinese take-out. If these don’t seem the trappings of the woman who founded Weight Watchers, don’t be alarmed. At 87, Nidetch has earned some allowances. Besides, she says, she doesn’t touch most of the stuff anyway.

The last remnants of an era evaporates: Nestle plant comes down

The main block of the Nestle Building on South Columbus Street (Old 3C Highway) in Sunbury was demolished last Wednesday. Workers knocked block and concrete walls out of the ground floor over the past week, cut through the bases of the I-beam building structure, attached cables, and then, using three track-hoes and a bulldozer, pulled the southwest corner of the building outward. When the building started to lean, gravity took over and did the rest.
